I read this some time last year, but never got to blog about it. This dramatic manga about a guide dog and a girl who trained him lands on my favorite manga list. I have an extreme soft spot for animals… Even more so with dogs.
Re-reading this now got me crying again because a relationship between a pet and owner is really something. It’s really special. So I somehow understand how it means to lose a dear pet.The story is about Hitomi wanting to become a ‘Happy Walker.’ Her parents approved of it and permitted her to raise and train a dog for one year. When the day came for her to pick up a dog, she chose the smallest and most timid puppy. She thinks that the puppy was like her. She felt pushed away and she never made much friends because her family always moves due to her dad’s job. She named her dog Eye. They had a very strong bond even if they only got to stay together for one year. Because, after a year, Eye would start his job as a guide dog. Some years passed and Eye was back to Hitomi’s household. Eye was a bit different as he missed the man he guided. Hitomi’s love for him never changed still. Eye created a big difference in her life to the point she even met the man she would marry through him. Even to the day Eye died, Hitomi was always with him like she promised when he was still a puppy.
