Woo-hoo! Finished another series. I feel like I haven’t watched a good number of anime this year compared to the previous years. Anyway, the ending to this show is okay. I didn’t expect that Maya’s love would be the prince himself. I was thinking it would be an unintroduced character. The prince is very much charming. Seeing him react weirdly when Nina turned him down is kind of OOC or, should I say, unexpected. I thought he would react in a dignified manner. While the girls were still collecting the holy stones, I pitied Maya. She was so desperate. All the time I thought it was for her dad to consider black magic. But it was because she was in love with the prince all her life. She was desperate enough just so she could marry the prince. Fortunately for her, Nina told the prince everything. They got together in the end. It’s a bit sad to know that the gang was erased of Maya’s memories. It would have been good news for them. Though I couldn’t believe she went as far as doing something evil to get all the holy stones.

If you want something comedic and shoujo then this is the series. Watch it! XD Maya’s chameleon is so cute and Maya’s weird facial expressions are funny. Must see!

Episode 15



Nina goes back to Magic Kingdom during her summer break, but she goes back again because her grandpa’s been nagging her too much. Maya returns too to look for the holy stone which she located near Tsujiai’s family’s beach house. She confesses to him, so she could easily go to his place. (She first thought it was in his house.)

Tsujiai invites Ayu, Nina, and Kaji to his family’s beach house. They played volleyball, swam, went sunbathing… Then Tsujiai sees Maya going to his place. They argued because Tsujiai realized she wasn’t serious about her confession. He told her that she probably doesn’t have anyone she actually likes. Then she got mad, said that she does, and storms off.

Oh, Nina and Maya finds the holy stone, but Maya was the one who was able to get it.

Episode 13



Another filler episode. Nina’s mom puts up a booth to sell some old stuff of theirs in the flea market. Nina, Ayu, Tsujiai, and Kaji help out. There was a vest that the girls sold to their homeroom teacher. It was the vest of Nina’s dad… That he meant to throw away! It’s a magic vest that will make you say what’s on your mind and will tighten if you lie.


Episode 14



Luna pays a visit to Maya to help her find the holy stone. Luna isn’t really like Maya. She’s gloomy, lonely, depressed, etc. She’s way pessimistic. While they were going around (no reason was told), they ran into the other 4 — Nina, Ayu, Tsujiai, and Kaji. Luna drops her bag to the ground by accident. Kaji picks this up and, whoa, Luna falls in love with him! Luna meant well though when she gives him various odd-looking gifts. Kaji thinks otherwise. Poor Luna… She got sort of dumped in the end. She walks away, depressed once more, and drops her bag again. Someone picks up the bag and hands it to her. ^_^; I’m sure you know what happened then.

It’s finally the start of summer break. Ayu’s sad because she won’t be seeing Kaji for a while. Fortunately, she and Nina get invited by Kaji and Tsujiai for the midsummer fireworks festival. The night before the festival, Ayu panics because she doesn’t have a decent yukata. Nina helps her by magically creating a kimono for her. Things were going smoothly til she had a problem with the yukata. To save Ayu from going naked, Nina makes something for Ayu. It’s not something you’d want to be seen in. Other than that, Tsujiai finds out about Nina’s secret.

Maya’s butler, Sebastian, arrives. Not such a good butler though. He’s so into housekeeping and taking care of Maya, but he’s very annoying. I love his get-up though. XD I forgot why Maya did a potion. I’m pretty sure it’s for something against Nina. Sebastain stole the potion. He felt sad because Maya isn’t giving him much attention he wants or was really shaken by the fact Maya doesn’t like him. I forget. ^_^; Anyways, he escapes to the libary. The potion was spilled accidentally on picture books. The most spilled on picture was a buffalo. The other were disappearing because the potion didn’t spill too much on them. Ayu and Nina try to “control” the buffalo. Tsujiai was about to find out. Nina kept him from entering the library. I feel bad for Tsujiai, but seeing his face squeezed on the door was really, really, really, super hilarious. XDDD Check the screenshots! The buffalo was then captured by Sebastian. Maya said he would be responsible if she were to cause any problems.

Maya’s so pissed with Nina that she makes a cursed doll. Ayu’s the one who freaks out though since Nina found the doll really cute. Poor Ayu! She’s so scared that she wants to have the doll thrown away. Nina almost did that, but gave the doll to Tsujiai. The doll wanted to stay with him when she was asked to do poison Nina. I didn’t think cursed dolls could feel love. XD Oh, but she changes her mind after Hiro told her that she would be turned back to her original self if she doesn’t do what she’s told.

She planned on putting poison in the soup Nina’s mom making. Accidentally, she spills everything on it. Nina didn’t get poisoned though. She did. Luckily, it wasn’t a real poison. It only gives some kind of allergy. :P

What happened in episode 9 again? Oh yeah, Yuta visits again to give Nina a clue to the holy stone. He pisses her off though and ends up helping Maya instead. The white holy stone (that is one out of five holy stones, I recall) was located in a festival/park. Maya and Yuta were the first to arrive there before Ayu and Nina did. Before Yuta helped Maya, they rode some rides. I didn’t expect to see Maya very scared as they rode the roller coaster. XD A little later, Nina and Maya tried to get the holy stone. I wonder who would have gotten the stone if Yuta didn’t cast a wind spell. Anyway, Nina sure got lucky. It’s in this episode that her magic level started to increase. It’s like a game.

Pine, Plum, and Bamboo visit their older cousin, Nina, to help her look for the holy stone. The little kids freak out Mikami, the girls’ homeroom teacher, as they enter the human world thru it. The little kids weren’t much of a help after they tried to make something to help look for the holy stone. They had this thunderballs and their potion spilled to a robot made of blocks. Maya was at the scene too because she got mad when her dearest Lulu got hit with a thunderball. Nina does some magic to stop the ruckus, but it seems the principal really fixed everything.

Just who is the principal? The only thing I’m sure of now is that he’s a magic user and probably came from Magic Kingdom. Maybe he’s got one or two of the holy stones? (Read more…)

Episode 4
This episode is about how Nina and Ayu met. Ayu was really freaked out at first and thought she was only dreaming. But after having witnessed green rock-like stuff bouncing around and Nina floating on a scooter, she had no other choice but to believe that Nina is from Magic Kingdom. Having a place simply named like that is actually unbelievable. One odd thing in this episode is when the class rep saw Nina performing a magic. I thought she was hiding behind a wall; somewhere out of view from the store. Anyways, having seen that, it seems this was also when and where it all started for the class rep to stalk Nina.

In episode 3, the students compete over how many tennis courts the girls or boys teams can use. The boys team is led by Tsujiai and the girls team by Ayu. Nina decides to help Ayu with her nervousness with competing against Tsujiai because she knows he’s really good at tennis. So, Nina does another magic thing and turns Ayu into a guy! The girls lose, of course, because Ayu isn’t used with a male’s body. Everything turned out well though because Tsujiai suggested that there should still be equal usage of the courts during practice. Before the day ended, Ayu was invited by Tetsushi and Tsujiai to a karaoke. On the day of the karaoke, Nina turns herself to a boy too while she hasn’t found a dispel for the magic Nina cast on Ayu. Things went a bit smoothly as she tried to keep girl from Tetsushi. That girl thought Ayu’s interested in her. After the karaoke and everyone was about to leave, the girl gives Ayu a kiss ON THE LIPS. XD There goes her first kiss.

This episode’s really cute and funny. I can’t find the right words to describe this episode. Heck, it’s hard to give a really detailed, enlightening, etc. comment about shoujo anime. Poor Ayu, she gave her first kiss to a girl. She should tell herself that the kiss isn’t counted. It was to a girl anyways.

I decided I’d watch some semi-old anime as I wait for the rest of the newest series to get subbed.
Ultra Maniac is about a girl, whose name’s Nina, who came from the magic kingdom. She’s not that good of a mage and she still relies on her mini computer. Her close friend’s Ayu… There aren’t much going yet with the two episodes, so I can’t say much. Oh, before Nina could perform magic, she has to transform into her “magic kingdom clothes.” >_> I wonder why she has to go through that. Anyways, Ayu likes a schoolmate of hers. His name’s Kaji. Nina tried to get them together, but her magic sucks. (Rather cliche, don’t you think?) Then a childhood friend of Nina comes by for a visit. His name’s Yuta. The first he saw Ayu, he suddenly showed interest and asked her out. Ayu didn’t want to, but with the bouquet of roses raining on her, she she just agreed. It’s not like she wanted the roses. She just wanted him to stop. The date went good and, in the end, Ayu found out that Nina’s really the girl Yuta likes.
