Gokusen

I almost wanted to forget reviewing this episode even though I already finished watching it. It’s even the last episode of the series, but I should being a lazy ass and get this over with. XD

The school vice president is still after Yamaguchi; trying to find something to ruin her reputation, getting her fired, and aiming to become the next president (or something because I already forgot) of whatever it is that’s going to be erected on the school grounds after it gets demolished. His plan fails because her students and her ‘men’ back her up and the school president already knows her background.

(Please correct me if I’m wrong with my episode summary as I hardly recall what happened and I only skimmed through the episode.)

I was a bit hesitant to watch this series because I was given the idea of the show being similiar to GTO. The series is similar because both protagonists want to become teachers. Not only do they teach academic stuff, but also in real-life issues. The difference is that Yamaguchi is a daughter of the head of a yakuza while Onizuka isn’t. Of course there are differences with the art and the humor as well. GTO’s better at both, though it doesn’t mean Gokusen sucks. The art might turn you off, but it’s still an enjoyable series.

The chairman of Shirokin is the principal’s brother who’s really, really tall. He visited the school as he plans to close the school. Yamaguchi overheard the conversation, so she butt in and made a contract — he will not close the school if the school becomes #1 in Japan academic or sports-wise. Later on, she finds out that the chairman only wants to build a new company on where the school stands. In the end, since the rest of what the teachers plan to help the school, they settle with boxing.

The boxing training is hilarious! Yamaguchi starts a boxing club with Shin as the captain and his friends as the members. She even got a trainer for them. His name’s Carlos who came from Mexico. In the end, the school still stands. They got to win because they did all means just to win. XDDD;

Yamaguchi visits Shin at his home to find out why he’s quitting school. Because his father is a top officer of the police, their house has tight security. Yamaguchi was frightened at first. Of course, being in a “yakuza family.” She was able to talk to him and found out he was being confined because his dad wanted him to do something else than graduating from Shirokin.

This episode is full of drama. Yamaguchi argued with Shin’s dad and Shin was embarassed by his dad’s actions. He _is_ using his power to harm the people who was only trying to help Shin. My fave scene was when Yamaguchi sneaked in Shin’s house. She said their places should be the other way around since she was the one sneaking and peaking thru his terrace.

Nekomata group is at it again. They’re targeting Shirokin’s students by selling them cat badges, so they wouldn’t be attacked by cat-masked fellows. Yankumi goes behind this by herself. On a pinch, her 2 young followers comes to the rescue.

I actually thought Yamaguchi’s followers entrance was cool! I’m sad that Shin gets beaten up. He acts all cool and mighty when he barely has the strength to stand up against these bad guys.

I just had to do a lot of caps. This was one of the good & very funny episodes in the series. XDDD

It’s time for the school trip to Okinawa. Yankumi and Fujiyama-sensei daydreams about their stay there, forgetting that they’ll be with brats who will only give them a headache. During the trip, Sawada planned to tire her out by making her chase after them whenever they stopped at every sightseeing location. The plan was a success. The guys were able to sneak out and have fun. Of course, there’s always trouble waiting ahead of them. She searches for them with the help of Shin, but gets involve with a group of men who’s looking for ANOTHER SHIN!

You wouldn’t believe Yankumi’s fighting spirit. She got hyped up joining a group of strangers who’s also in search of another Shin. She thought it was her student Shin. >_> The bed scene between Shin and Yamaguchi gave me a slight “First Love” idea. Gokusen would be a wonderful spoof! XD




After the school trip, it’s the yearly festival and class 2-4’s activity is a host club. About 3 students including Shin are the only good-looking guys in it. Ha~ Even if Shin’s got the looks, he’s not even good with the girls.

Tsuruta, a senior, is temporarily back after being suspended as a request to join the school’s festival. The juniors and seniors set up another fight to see who’s stronger like their previous fairs. The seniors took chances with Tsuruta. He doesn’t seem so bad though. Just don’t provoke him by insulting his physical appearance.

When I have to teach a student proper conduct, I wouldn’t go as far as sticking my fingers in his nose. That’s icky.

Sawada finds out Yankumi’s real identity! Kyo’s _lame_ act didn’t help at all.



What the efff is Mingenhiiinaaa??? T_T

Yamaguchi-sensei finally has recruits for her choir and all of them are bishies. Well, they look 100x better than the other students. @_@

Ichikawa gets bullied by his so-called friends, but still hangs with them. The two female teachers don’t catch their bullying, but Yamaguchi tries to get Ichikawa into the choir. Probably to keep him from his friends and other bad influences.

Ooedo’s group in danger as Kuroda (Yankumi’s grandfather) was taken to the hospital. Yankumi was left in charge of the group and on the time there were rumors about their group having a dispute with another (Kakita group). Later, Sawada informs Yankumi of Kudou being part of Nekomata group. The Ooedo gets a visit from Tenkai, Ooedo’s Kumicho’s brother-in-law, and tells them to settle the case with Kakita.

Nothing much in this episode except Shin accidentally crosses paths with Yankumi as she goes to Kakita. She may look different in a kimono and tied-up hairstyle. But we all know Shin’s not very, very stupid not to recognize her.

There was a thief going around the Shirokin area. Most people have started to accuse the Shirokin High students due to their reputation. So, Minami and his friends decide to catch the thief to prove to the people they weren’t the bad guys. Instead of catching the thief, two of them — Minami and Noda — got busted (Noda looked so much like the thief on the “wanted” pin-ups). Yamaguchi gets the students out, but the vice principal shows up after being informed by the police and has started on accusing the kids. Of course, Yamaguchi won’t let this slip off.

Yamaguchi’s girly get-up is amusing. Even if I were a thief, I would likely try to steal anything from her. She did a good job in acting as the victim. XD Shin didn’t believe so. Heck, all of them are so lame in “acting.” *sweatdrop* It just highly aroused his suspicions on her.

I would like it if I knew some of Yamaguchi’s kick-ass moves. No jerks would be able to lay a single finger on me.

Yankumi meets Kuma’s mom in the bar. But, during that time, she didn’t know yet she’s Kuma’s mom. She only found out when she saw her in the school grounds. She informed her not to mention anything about it in school so as not to cause trouble to her job.

There’s nothing exceptional in this episode. We just get to see more of Kuma and his friends’ thickheadedness (Is there such word?). I’m glad they decided to attend math tutorial even though it’s for other reasons and not because of their low scores.

XD The choir cracks me up. I didn’t expect Fujiyama to teach music. She looked as though she would teach P.E.

In this episode, we see Yankumi on her first day in Shirokin High School. The vice principal informs the two new female teachers of some safety tips in case the students go wild. Class 2-4’s the class Yankumi’s going to be a homeroom teacher in. The students were all disappointed because she looked plain and, rather, found her stupid. Only Sawada Shin thought differently.

The manga’s hilarious, so I decided to watch the anime. I’ve already seen til ep. 11, but will still review on a per-episode (or maybe 2) basis. They didn’t mostly follow the manga. One is the appearance of the vice principal. They created that character for the viewers to hate and be more reminded of GTO. >P
