Episode 11



I kinda hated Saki for _accidentally_ burning Genshiken’s precious collections. All those stuff burned because of one cig! She did feel bad about it, but it seems she didn’t realize the consequences yet. When the fire got big, both Madarame and Saki had slow reactions. ~__~ If they acted faster, they would have probably saved a few. I least expected Saki to panic. Probably because she was shocked that she caused the fire although it was an accident. A stupid accident. Poor Ohno got drenched because Saki accidentally (again) threw the water on her. The result of all these accidents = Saki cosplaying. *rofl* She looked awfully pretty and sexy.

Episode 12



The gang was depressed they’ll be spending most of their winter break doing community service. It’s their punishment for causing fire in the school grounds. It was certain one of them was going to snap. Saki felt really stressed and bad, so she tried to do things for the group to make up for her mistake. She vented out by crying to Kohsaka, but somehow blamed Madarame for everything. The fire had a great impact to her that she doesn’t smoke anymore.
Sasahara is now the new chairman of the group for the new year. Madarame stepped down because he needs to find work. He must have needed $$$ again for his future dj spree. Say, who’s the girl in the ending credits? Genshiken’s purely random, but the ending’s open for a second season. I hope there is. I’m going to miss Saki for her violence, Madarame for his wild imagination and dj obsession, and Ohno for her cosplay.

It’s been almost a month since I last watched an episode.
Genshiken goes to the beach, but I kinda missed the part why they were there and why Saki didn’t want them there. But I’m guessing the latter is due to Ohno. Keiko was also with them. She vowed on to make Kohsaka hers, but she has to deal with Saki first. XD I lost count how many times Saki whacked Keiko. My favorite was when she was following the two on the way to the water. Saki suddenly whacked her with the alligator floater (whatever you call that).
Ohno didn’t remove her blouse though her figure and big boobs were very noticeable. I sense something between her and Tanaka. They’re always together on cons or other events because of Ohno’s cosplay. Tanaka’s into those. But in this beach episode, they were making a sand castle. The castle of Cagliostro! Since they were on the talk of anime again, Keiko comes up with the plan — to be an otaku. She stayed in her brothers place and goes with them to ComiFes. Well, she wouldn’t have come if Ohno didn’t show her a doujinshi of some band. T___T Pierrot? XD J/k!

Keiko finally understands how Saki is handling a relationship with an otaku. I’m an anime fan and my brother likes some too, so I can’t say anything about the feelings of a non-otaku. Are otaku hard to mingle with?

Not much funny moments in this episode.

It’s Madarame’s first time being alone with Saki. It’s also the first time we see Saki reading a manga. I repeat, SHE’S READING A MANGA! How unexpected. Madarame made a fool of himself trying to strike a conversation with Saki. He was the only one so affected by the moment. And… WTF… He notices the smallest details like NOSEHAIRS!?



*gah* This episode’s such a waste. I hope the fun picks up again in the ff. episodes.

The art in this episode seems not as good as the previous episodes.

It’s springtime and it’s a good time to make Gungal models. Ohno and Sasaya bought some models and Tanaka is off to give them a week of training on how to build them. Saki’s, as usual, spoiling their mood and making them nervous whenever she held the models. Ohno was unfortunate when she let her touch her model.

The bgm when Saki touched Tanaka and Ohno’s models made me freaking nervous. She’s not that interested in them, but the way she looked at them was unexpected. She could have touched, looked, and not bother to move any parts. I feel sorry for Ohno.

The club are getting two new members and Saki’s going to make sure they will change their minds of joining. Also, the club’s kaichou is resigning because he finally decides to write a paper to graduate. Madarame becomes their second chairman.

I didn’t expect Ohno to be a strong drinker. She gets clingy and hyper. Their little celebration went out of hand. I’m glad Saki didn’t join in the ruckus. I wonder where the club will lead to with Madarame as their second chairman.

Saki is fretting over her boyfriend being an otaku, so she asks the other members of Genshiken if cosplaying would be a good turn-on. They give out their opinions and she finally opts to learn games. She finally learns one, but Kohsaka beats her easily.

She told them it was her friend who’s in that situation to save her from embarassment when it was so obvious she’s describing herself. Lucky her, Kohsaka’s not a sentimental guy. I bet he would break up with her right away if he was. Why be with a girl who can’t accept for who you are, right? Then again… Kohsaka doesn’t seem _normal._ Nor are the others. T_T

Society for the Modern Visual Culture (aka Genshiken) was suddenly listed as one of the clubs that will be dismissed as soon as the year ends. Saki is very happy about this. But she was forced to help them out because of the way the members are taking this and she doesn’t want her boyfriend, Kohsaka, to be with whoever-he-is in the manga club. The club was somehow saved with a little help of their chairman who’s freaking me out with his weird eyes. (See screencaps.) He’s so weird! He even got Saki to join the club. T___T I didn’t get the last part that much in this episode. Saki was asking him how he knows the _things_ between her and Kohsaka… Does that mean he’s got cameras in the clubroom? He also warned her of what restrooms _not_ to use. >_> Anyway, if things are going smooth for this couple then there’s no reason for me to dislike Saki. XD I like her character. If she ditches Kohsaka because he’s an “otaku,” she’s just like those other girls. Even real life girls. Not as funny as the previous episode, but it still has some nice moments. (Again, see screencaps.) A love confession after talking about athlete’s foot cracked me up. XD Not sweet. Not at all. But it’s the funniest confession I’ve ever seen!

Puhaha~ Kohsaka won 25-years worth of (shitty) video games!!! WTF! XD They’re all probably rpg.

Saki is just eBil. She should be better off with her ex-boyfriend or anyone else, but not Kohsaka. Loving him means also liking his interests/accepting his likes, but she’s hiding that fact. She’s also a problem for the club… The guys are too afraid to stand up to a violent girl like her. Oh well, she’s a major plus in making the show hilarious. Her sd-face reminds me of Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu. She might be Guu’s long-lost sister. XDDD

Genshiken’s got a new female member. She automatically got herself in due to her cosplay interest. What was her name again???

I feel bad starting in episode 3. Hehe~ I watched episodes 1 and 2 about 2 weeks ago. I’m too lazy to go over them. Besides, a lot of anime blogs out there are giving reviews to this. I didn’t intend to join the hype, but this is amusing to pass up.


Watching this makes me feel like I’m not _that_ much of an anime fan. ^_^; Is it possible to have so many people in just a doujinshi con? I’m not a hardcore fan (aka otaku), but it would be really, really awesome to be able to go to one. @_@ I would need lots of dough. Poor Madarame missing out the rest of the convention. He should have his hand checked right after he fell.

The art seems a bit different from the previous 2 episodes. The characters looked odd as if the artists did a quick job on them. The opening song is good, btw. It gives me The Pillows-feel. The ending song is so-so. They should have done another comedic song, but the background video seems to blend with it well. It shows the “outcome” of a day being with Genshiken.
