Hataraki Man Ep. 4-11
October 5, 2007 @ 3:23 am (0 Comments)
I have seen episodes 4 to 11 (the last), but will still do my lamereviews per episode instead of just putting my thoughts on the whole series. I’m so late on this, I know. It’s just that I haven’t felt like blogging about anime lately. -_-
Episode 4 - Apology Man
This episode is about Hiroko’s boyfriend who works in a construction firm. He tries his best at his job, so that the workers wouldn’t get mad at him. He tried his best, but was then transferred to an office job with regards to sales. He suddenly regrets not being too serious with his work. He realized that he was afraid to take risks.
When I saw this episode, I felt the story would somehow revolve around him and Hiroko on how their work will affect their relationship. I thought it was already going to be bad for them in this episode, but aside from a canceled date nothing very bad happened.
Episode 5 - Turn-Around Man
Miyu’s dream is to be able to write a book with her favorite author. After she was able to land a contract for her favorite author, she found out from Hiroko that it would be Hiroko herself who would be in charge of her favorite author and not her. It frustrated her. She didn’t concentrate on the job she was reassigned to. When she complained to the chief, she was told that a second year like her wouldn’t be able to do that job and she has to do other tasks to gain more experience. She was able to fully concentrate after talking to her favorite author who admitted that she asked the chief to let Hiroko take in charge of her just so she could broaden her horizons.
It is true that if you stayed with one audience, they will eventually get tired of you. This type of thing does not only work with authors, but with others too. Like when you create homepages, you have to change your the look of your designs from time to time. I think that when you stick to something like that, you end up losing some of your creativity. Wanting to be creative means trying things you haven’t before. All right, this may already be out of the topic already, but I hope you guys get what I mean. It’s one of the lessons we get to learn in this series. :3
Episode 6 - Princess Man
One of the staff is ’somewhat’ thoroughly introduced in this episode. Yumi-chan, an editor, gives special scoops on a famous baseball player Shimura. Hiroko needs to interview him in her article Seven Samurai. She asks Yumi for help. She’s fine with it, but treated her coldly that was least expected by Hiroko. She rewrites her proposal to a shorter one after figuring out that Yumi does only have limited time with the baseball player. She goes to the field by herself to try to talk to Shimura herself, but the other reporters ignore her and even run over her. Yumi helps her up and introduces Hiroko to Shimura. Hiroko quickly explains her article to him and is finally granted permission. He says he can’t turn down a woman anyway.
Some of us may have met a Yumi-chan in one part of our lives. She’s the type of girl who uses her sexuality to get the job she wants. She claims there is nothing wrong with that. I did that before. Fyi, no, I didn’t sell my body to get what I want. Acting cute and sweet definitely got what I wanted. I was spoiled. This happened when our band was doing well with gigs. I met someone who handles productions and he gave us priority. He made us perform more songs than other bands. It was bad actually, but we enjoyed it. I had fun and I’m grateful. Yet I still feel guilty. I don’t know if Yumi feels guilty, but it’s true that if you want something real bad, you got to do everything you can to achieve or acquire it.
Episode 7 - Fussy Man
Hiroko is stressed with work and couldn’t get her gears working. She goes out for a short trip to the massage parlor, but, Shirakawa, the one who always assists her is on a day-off. Shirakawa is having troubles of her own too. They affect her work which make her worry more. She decides to quit her job and work on another place, but it doesn’t seem better. She told her boss that if they’re always pushed and stressed they wouldn’t be able to relieve the stresses of their customers.
It might have looked like a mistake to quit and move somewhere, but people irl do that, right? Once they find themselves too stressed and not happy with their work, they decide to move on to someplace else.
I wish I could do that. Ha! Anyway, I thought this series will focus only on the staffers in Jidai. Seems like anyone Hiroko gets in contact with ends up having their own episode.
Episode 8 - Payoff Man
This is an interesting episode. I hate to admit that I was touched with the work Chiba goes through and how he reacted after Natsume thanked him for selling her books.
Natsume’s story that is being serialized in Jidai will be released into a book. Hiroko talked to Chiba in charged of its sales to print more than 20,000 copies of as she believes it will really sell out. But Chiba wouldn’t change his mind. They’re afraid that they might not be able to sell more than that anymore. Plus, he wouldn’t let feelings rule their decision on how many books they have to print. Chiba is an interesting character. I know that you have to tease customers or give them a ’sales talk’ just so they would buy your product, but he’s a great actor. I thought he reads 54, but he doesn’t and only acted like he does. Just so he could easily relate to their customers. Then it was shown why he’s like that after his experience on a book he sold and promoted with extreme eagerness. He worked hard especially when the girl who edited the book was his crush. Just when the sales topped, the girl said it was all thanks to the author. He realized that he did all that for nothing. He wanted to be praised. It was different for Natsume’s work though. When he got to read 54 and noticed how much people liked the story, he told his boss to print more than 20,000. He was aiming 50,000 like Hiroko asked. He ended up with 40,000, but it was better than just sticking to 20,000. More copies were printed as every bookstore quickly sold out Natsume’s book. It was amazing. During the celebration party on the huge sale of Natsume’s work, Natsume quickly thanked Chiba. She found out from Hiroko that Chiba had pressed his boss on printing 40,000 on the first publication. He cried. Surprised that the author took notice of him and his hard work.
All of us want to be thanked for something we do for other people. Big or small. Also, if others have done something for us, we shouldn’t forget to thank them. The thought really counts. You know, it gives this warm feeling that we don’t experience everyday.
Episode 9 - The Full-Fledged Hataraki Man
Hiroko was given an article where she is the chief editor. The title of the article this time is Fifty Samurai. She said she could do it, but she overworked herself. She got sick, but couldn’t rest until she’s able to finish this article. She was given more work when some of the people she gave parts to had to back out because they got sick or didn’t want to do it anymore (as far as I recall). When one of the people she had to interview died, things didn’t go out smoothly after. This person who died is Mimura who did something related to computers. He worked too hard which they say probably resulted to him being sick and ended up dying. So, yeah, working too hard doesn’t always mean we’ll get high rewards. Our body will also suffer. Too much is always bad.
Anyway, following on Mimura’s way of working, when she got her article done, she thanked him in a whisper. I do not really recall what happened in this episode. I found it somewhat boring after the excitement from the previous episode.
Episode 10 - Not-Working Man
The last of the four ladies in the editorial section, Kaji is introduced in this episode. She’s like the very, very mature version of Yumi-chan. She doesn’t flirt, but she gives this vibe that makes you respect and like her at the same time. She doesn’t take advantage of her being a female. Hiroko seems out of it in this episode. All that was shown is her thinking about her job and how Kaji handles her work and of being a woman. Kaji has a lover who was in an accident. That’s what they thought. She didn’t falter after hearing of the accident although she smiled when she was told of the good news that her lover wasn’t in the accident.
Anyway, Hiroko was very weird in this episode. It wasn’t very clear until episode 11…
Episode 11 - Even So, Hataraki Man
Not-so-good things happened to Hiroko. Aside from the stress in her job, her apartment gets flooded as water leaked from the ceiling. It was a busy time for her because no one can work at a home in such state. She wanted to stay at her boyfriend’s house for the meantime. Instead, her boyfriend tells her that they should just clean up her room and have the problem fixed asap. So they did, but the fixing will take about a week to finish.
Hiroko works very hard because she’s got passion for her work. One night, while working on an article, her boyfriend visits her by surprise. He was drunk. He tells her that when he looks at her, all he could see is his worthless self. That may hurt although he did say that it isn’t Hiroko’s fault. I believe so too. It’s probably because the guy doesn’t actually have the passion for the work he’s currently in. He wanted to work in the field, but ended up in sales. Well, I guess it’s hard to blame him entirely. One would feel insecure of your partner who’s successful and is enjoying work while you’re not. Then again, if you think positively, you wouldn’t feel that low of yourself. Not all good things happen quickly. You got to be patient and, at the same time, you have to work harder.
After writing all these down, I could say that this is a good series. I have never given the series much though until I did thislamereview.
Oh, I apologize for any grammar errors. I may have missed some here and there. If you made it up to here, congratulations!
I know most of you would have ignored this post seeing the length of it. XD; I would have added screenshots too so it wouldn’t be boring, but my Zoom Player wouldn’t let me.

Episode 24
Kyouhei has gone missing after the incident in his home. Even though his mom doesn’t like him that much because of the nonstop calls, visitors, etc. for Kyouhei, Sunako had to even tell him that she doesn’t want to be near him anymore. Kyouhei ran away to somewhere unmentioned. He seems to get by from helping people and taking whatever hospitable offer they could give him. He also joins food eating contests in various restaurants and even became a leader of a gang that he made do community service. The other 3 boys ask Sunako-chan if anything happened when Kyouhei was home. She said she doesn’t know anything, but she starts feeling guilty. The boys found out that Kyouhei isn’t returning because a member from the gang said (from a TV show) that Kyouhei mentioned not having a home to go back to. They lecture Sunako and try to make a way for Kyouhei to come back with the help of an offer from the restaurant they used to work to. That restaurant will be covered on TV and they will use it to bring Kyouhei back. Sunako also helps out by making herself look dazzling. You should see how she does it. XD

Episode 20
Three girls kidnapped Hiroshi-kun because they thought it is Kyouhei’s favorite after seeing him talking to it behind the bushes. Sunako went out to search for him. She didn’t go home for one night then later on was found on a dumpster. She didn’t take the time to eat nor drink the whole time she searched. After probably 2 days, the mannequin thieves sent a letter to Sunako of the whereabouts of her beloved Hiroshi-kun. She hurries there, but instead that she gets Hiroshi-kun right away, they ask her to bring Kyouhei to them first. They will have him kneel down, get him naked, they’ll caress him, and make him moan. She hardly hesitated when she answered, “I can’t do that.” It surprised everyone. She cried, ran away, and bumped into Kyouhei. Kyouhei then gave himself up, so he could get Hiroshi-kun. Fortunately, the girls passed out from his being TOO HOT, he left them and brought Hiroshi-kun with him.
I laughed out loud after watching the part when the girls said they wanted to do this and that to Hiroshi-kun. One of the girls seem to have a S&M fetish. XD I also want to do this and that to some men I know (I don’t have a S&M fetish, btw), but I wouldn’t go as far as they did. Also, I’m not that desperate… I can only do that in my dreams or in my imagination.
The production company are probably few on resources as the voices of the thieves are familiar. They sound like those Goth~ Goth~ Loli~ Loli~ girls.
I guess that’s very expected when they could do that much to the animation.
Episode 21
Sunako’s dad visits the mansion after finding out that his daughter is staying with four boys. He was so angry that he was literally on fire. His entrance to the mansion is similar to Sunako’s. Kyouhei was very right on how something like that happened previously.
Sunako’s Papa looked fierce and all, but he just loves her daughter too much. Seeing his daughter change as she grew up, she became distant and he felt hated. What he didn’t know is that she kept her distance because she didn’t want him to find out her hobbies or the things she likes. He faints at the sight of scary things. His visit concerns not only of Sunako and her staying with the boys, but of Kyouhei. Because, while on his way to the mansion, he overheard the Goth~ Goth~ Loli~ Loli~ girls talking about Sunako and Kyouhei’s actually-non-existent relationship. He became wary of him. Just like any father, he’s afraid he might not be good for his daughter. He kept his eye on him and even tested him. He liked him in the end though. In fact, he even asked him to look after Sunako.
Sunako’s mom makes an appearance at the near-end of the episode. She drops by to pick up the ‘Papa.’ The boys were stunned by her prettiness _and_ her strength.
If Sunako started acting like a true lady, she’ll be like her mother (also with the great strength — !!!) or maybe prettier.
Episode 22-23
Instead offutile attempts in turning Sunako into a true lady, it seems the story will focus on Kyouhei. This starts on episode 22. Kyouhei gets kidnapped this time. He’s taken by cult-looking people. Kyouhei was saved by Yuki. He was discovered in a cave and tied on a throne-like chair. o_o The cult-looking kidnappers are atually the store owners near his old home. He left that place because his mom got sick and tired of the endless phone calls, faxes, packages, etc. for Kyouhei. He tried his best to stop those only to get in trouble. He decided that to end his mom’s agony is to leave his home.
The kidnapping was headed by Kyouhei’s dad. His dad wasn’t sure of what happened, but he didn’t like it when he heard the things Kyouhei’s mom would say about wanting Kyouhei to disappear and such. For whatever reason, a mother shouldn’t say things like that to their children. She shouldn’t apologize if the sight of him still angers her. Stupid mother. I guess Sunako realized this because she’s treated differently by others (only opposite of how Kyouhei attracts attention) yet her mom wouldn’t be bothered by it. Sunako’s method of helping Kyouhei didn’t do much help and her after saying she doesn’t want to be with him is probably going to be a problem to their friends.

Gokusen Ep. 13
May 10, 2007 @ 2:27 am (0 Comments)
I almost wanted to forget reviewing this episode even though I already finished watching it. It’s even the last episode of the series, but I should being a lazy ass and get this over with. XD
The school vice president is still after Yamaguchi; trying to find something to ruin her reputation, getting her fired, and aiming to become the next president (or something because I already forgot) of whatever it is that’s going to be erected on the school grounds after it gets demolished. His plan fails because her students and her ‘men’ back her up and the school president already knows her background.
(Please correct me if I’m wrong with my episode summary as I hardly recall what happened and I only skimmed through the episode.)
I was a bit hesitant to watch this series because I was given the idea of the show being similiar to GTO. The series is similar because both protagonists want to become teachers. Not only do they teach academic stuff, but also in real-life issues. The difference is that Yamaguchi is a daughter of the head of a yakuza while Onizuka isn’t. Of course there are differences with the art and the humor as well. GTO’s better at both, though it doesn’t mean Gokusen sucks. The art might turn you off, but it’s still an enjoyable series.

Prince of Tennis… After n years! X_X
May 8, 2007 @ 4:13 am (3 Comments)
Fufufu~ I finished the Prince of Tennis tv series last Friday. Whew! After a long time, I finally managed to. I kept pushing it aside because I got tired from watching too many of the tennis tournaments. If you watch it straight from episode 1 to about 70+, the tournaments will really get to your nerves. It’s like watching Full Moon o Sagashite with a single song playing a number of times in every episode. Know what I mean? That’s forgiven anyway because a series with lots of boys would mean possible YAOI pairs.
When I watched from about episode 160 to the end, I kind of regretted not watching it earlier. The filler episodes are hilarious. I did mention this in my blog about the obvious hints of InuKai, TezuFuji, OishixKikumaru (or vice-versa), andmy favorite pair TezuRyo.
The yaoi fangirl in me is finally very satisfied with the series. *rofl* I enjoyed all the chibi, prince-of-various-sports, and other extra episodes. They were good enough to make one forget tennis for a little while. SD-Tezuka is so OOC XD And Oishi acting as the mother is extreme CRACK!
I wasn’t very happy with the ending though because it sucks Ryoma wouldn’t be able to play in the Nationals. But, you know, the only fortunate thing for finishing watching the tv series just recently is that the National Chapter OAV is already showing. That means I would see right away what happened after Ryoma left for the US Open.
I’d go on, but discussing about the OAV should go to a different post.
This is the longest anime I have ever seen. (I would say Ranma 1/2, but I’m pretty sure I missed a lot of its episodes or a season.) Prince of Tennis will be my first favorite sports anime in my list.

When I watched from about episode 160 to the end, I kind of regretted not watching it earlier. The filler episodes are hilarious. I did mention this in my blog about the obvious hints of InuKai, TezuFuji, OishixKikumaru (or vice-versa), and

Pumpkin Scissors 20-24 and my take on the series
May 4, 2007 @ 2:05 am (0 Comments)
I wouldn’t be making a per-episode rant/review since, a lot had already done that and you’ll probably ignore this post if still went on with it. Just to give my point-of-view on episodes 20-24, it certainly got better with the action scenes. Interesting how Alice becomes the strongest in the group, when she started out as a character that does nothing but BLAH-BLAH-BLAH.
I could forgive that because I’ve seen her with her really kick-ass weapon. I didn’t think she was the kind of girl who would take the time to learn other weapons than the dagger-like thing she always brings with her. She would look cooler without the army coat.
There were episodes before these that were only fillers that could have been removed or easily summarized to short-fillers in the end of some episodes. This series could have been, at most, 16 episodes. But no, they had to make more than 20 episodes.
I continued watching this series because Orland impressed me with his skills in the first episode. He got lamer and lamer by the episode. *bah* He went all EMO in the end. Sheesh~
All in all, I can’t say it’s a great ride with this series. The animation’s alright. The drawing sometimes look as if they were lazily worked on. I could give a high rating on music though. The bgm, I mean. The opening and closing songs aren’t really my type. The ending songs are really unexpected from such series. I guess the production thinks the anime is too dark and, to make it lighter, they have to make a happy-feeling ending video.

April 17, 2007 @ 10:37 am (0 Comments)
Gawd, when I saw Hiroshi in a sexy pose, I thought I would puke.
It’s Valentine’s Day. The boys dread the day because they know they will be followed by a huge crowd of girls. Whether outside or inside the school. What’s really funny in this episode is when the male teachers wanted to glomp Kyouhei. *rofl* XD Sunako ♥ chocolates. Haha~ She could have just asked the boys properly. She could have taken a few, right?

Bokura ga Ita
April 16, 2007 @ 3:04 am (4 Comments)
WTF. Bokura ga Ita just KILLED ME with the extreme drama. I find the series damn good. So good that I want more. I’m not satisfied with the open ending. They could have just included the last part of the 8th volume of the manga. The ending with Takahashi chasing the train then watching it leave on a cold, snowy winter day just made the anime more sad than it already was. It wasn’t even heart-warming, darnit. I wouldn’t mind the drama, but at least a semi-satisfying ending would it alright. *sighs*
Before I give my input on the characters and the story, I’d like to make a few comments with the animation. So far, the simplicity of the anime is a major point. I like it. It kind of gives this Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyo feeling to it. There are times though that the main characters would look sad. The part when Takahashi was waiting for Yano in front of the station. Takeuchi and Yano, at the same time, headed there… I thought it was Yano who got there first, but Takeuchi beat him to it. I was also confused by the voice because he sounded like Yano. I didn’t notice that the music at the near-end of the episodes changes.
Some episodes weren’t that dramatic, but whenever those music would play, it really gives off this melancholic feeling.
Others weren’t happy with this series. But I think it’s a good series. It’s already in my favorites, btw.
Yano isn’t the perfect guy than what he seemed to be in the first episode. He may be cold or rash with Nanami, but his choice of words when he’s being honest with his love for Nanami can make you melt. Takeuchi may be a good guy and he’s right about Yano being almost impossible to understand… But I still root for Yano and Nanami. He’s Nanami’s first boyfriend, so I could forgive her if she gets indecisive or get easily hurt/mad when she could easily talk it with Yano instead of just ignoring him. I saw how she matured through their high school years. I was surprised when told Takeuchi to stop being nice to her when she’s weak. That he was being unfair. He somewhat takes advantage of the situation when she and Yano fights. We know all he wants is to protect her, but he also knows his limit. He can’t force Nanami to like him when all she sees is Yano. I pity Nanami because she’s trying hard and Yano isn’t completely open with her. I know he’s right when he said that Nanami’s mentioning pointless things. I believe he would have eventually moved on and made Nana become a memory (even though he doesn’t believe in memories), if he and Nanami had led a normal, happy couple life. I guess Nanami just wants Yano to move on by facing the problem instead of trying to forget it. She’s afraid that Yano isn’t completely in love with her. Like Yano’s feelings still linger for Nana. Well, we did witness that in the anime. It couldn’t be helped anyways. Nana’s dead. He loved her. As much as he wanted to hate her, he couldn’t. She was his first love.
I contradicted myself, didn’t I?

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge Ep. 17-18
April 4, 2007 @ 6:48 pm (0 Comments)
Episode 17
Sunako locks herself most of the time in her roof to watch her horror movies and eat a lot of junkfood at the same time. This caused her to have lots of pimples and to gain wait.
The pimples kind of gave me goosebumps. Noi gives her tips, but Sunako already went back to her room. She hardly cares for herself anyway.
Then Ranmaru’s fiancee arrives. She plans to become a lady/woman/girl that Ranmaru will love.
This episode is about beauty and Noi and Tamao (Ranmaru’s fiancee) becoming ideal for Takenaga and Ranmaru respectively.
Episode 18
The guys used a different tactic this time for turning Sunako into a lady. Their tactic is like a “If you can’t beat them, join them” thing.
They were able to make Sunako wear a gothic dress after they told her that she’s out of place. She was hesitant, but when she wore it she fell in love with the feeling of wearing the dress. She was really into it that when she needed to buy food ingredients, she wore that. She got more attention this time. She didn’t realize that the more she’s trying to be different, the more she will just gain attention. Isn’t that what she hates? :P Sunako got into a trouble when she went with a kid who showed her his hideout. The people thought the kid was kidnapped by her. Kyouhei comes to rescue her once more. He wore a prince outfit, so it would seem they were just having a cosplay or a shooting.
They think it was a bit of progress for getting Sunako to wear a dress. It sure was a progress.
In the end, she said she didn’t mind wearing a dress once in a while.

Episode 13
Hiroshi is starting to freak me out.
Sunako becomes uber girly. Thanks to the mushroom Yuki got from the Goth~Loli girls. They were chanting/praying using those mushroom to transform them into girls that the boys will like. They were suddenly chased away by a dog that was interested with the mushrooms. The boys puked when they found out where they came from, but Sunako ate all of it. She transformed to somebody who’s more than a lady. They thought they’re free from paying rent. But, they got shy around her and so did she. Feeling uncomfortable, they wanted the old Sunako back. They did that things that Sunako hated, but nothing turned her back to normal. Seemingly, by the end of the day, Sunako turned back to normal. The “metamorphosis” didn’t last very long.

Pumpkin Scissors Ep. 13-19
February 15, 2007 @ 9:05 pm (0 Comments)
It sucks that my computer can’t take screencaps from mkv-format videos. I’m getting the mkv version of eclipse’s Pumpkin Scissors. The only thing I like it when it’s mkv is that I can skip the opening and ending parts.
I’m led to believe that the higher-ups of the army or the Empire are up to something. In episode 17, the Himmel drug that is being sold in the sewers is supplied by Silver Wheel. An underground group, it seems, that probably consists of rich people. I thought the long-haired guy who met up with the president of the sewers lines company was Alice’s fiance. After watching the recently-released episode 19, I realized how wrong I was.
If he was it would be super cliche.
Episodes 18 and 19 are filler episodes. Episode 18 is cute though.
Stekkin’s so childish.
She should watch what she says or Mach’s will get hurt more. XD Episode 19 is somewhat serious. I’m not really interested about Alice’s engagement unless it’s part of a big happening. The fat guy in the ball is though… The people that the big guy spied on has something against/for him. I didn’t quite understand that part.

Episode 11: The Quiet Quickening
Section III was interviewed by a big time newspaper to let the people be aware of the tasks they’re assigned to. There were mixed reactions. Some were supportive. Some were not. Of course, it could happen that people’s dreams get shattered when you’ve been in a war for so long. Not many people believe they can restore happiness in everyone. Restoration is hard for them to do since out of desperation do people tend to more bad things. Alice gets kidnapped by Cecile, whose brother was killed for finding out information about the Invisible 9. He was supposed to publish his findings in the newspaper, but he died before he actually completed the article. When he was killed, his manuscript and memos were taken or disappeared. Cecile has a copy though. His brother made a copy, but divided it into 3. Cecile only has the first part it seems. They’re going to use Pumpkin Scissors to find the rest of the manuscript and have it published. They want the people to know what the army/government is up to. The squad searched for her as soon as they found out from Alice’s self-proclaimed fiance.
So far, this is an interesting episode next to episode 1. It takes a single episode per character just to introduce them. This is the second time that we get to see Alice’s self-proclaimed fiance. I call him since it is true and I’ve forgotten his name.
Episode 12: The Unseen Pain
This is the second and last part to the story in episode 11. Alice was released. She returned to their office and reported to their captain what her kidnappers’ intentions are. It seems that Dalton, the reporter who interviwed them previously, is also interested in the Invisible 9 after seeing the Door Knocker w/ Oland. He made contact with Dr. Colt. I remember he’s the father of tanks. He was paid a visit by the female scientist (if she really is). She killed him, I don’t know how, for finding out about the Invisible 9. Cecile’s friends sold the manuscript to Dalton causing them to get killed. Dalton was killed too. Alice and Oland encountered this assassin. Alice tried to get information from him, but he poisoned himself. The assassin seems to be one of the experiments of the female scientist.
The newspaper chief seems to be part of something, but we are not sure what. When he was presented by the copy of the manuscript then Dalton left to get the scoop completed, the chief had to talk to someone. I think that whoever he talked to must have caused Cecile’s friends to get killed. Also Dalton.
Being the said father of tanks, I didn’t think Dr. Colt was unaware of the turning humans into weapons experiment. I knew he was going to die at some point.

The boys are in another task. Sunako’s aunt called. She told them that Sunako should get an 80 in her math test or else they would start paying rent in full again. Takenaga found out that Sunako’s score in a math quiz is a 3, so they had to do something. Sunako wasn’t really into it. Kyouhei got mad at her; said she always ran from every problem she encounters. Kyouhei tried his best too just to prove to her that you can do achieve anything as long as you try your best. Sunako did study in the end. She also got a stomachache from Yuki’s disastrous cooking. Very impressive, yet she got her answers mixed up. She got another 3 then.

January 28, 2007 @ 3:41 am (0 Comments)
The continuation of murdery mystery was solved by Sunako. The chef was behind the incident. But the problems didn’t end there. Sunako found out that the knife used still wasn’t found. So she was so determined and sneaked around which caused trouble for the other guests. Sayuri, the hostess who Ranmaru is very fond of, decided to get rid of what was causing the problem. That wasn’t the only case though. She blamed Sunako for getting her plans ruined — including the capture of the suspect. So she tricked her to an old warehouse. She set the place on fire. Good thing one of the female workers informed the guys that the hostess had a guest with her. Kyouhei saved her. The evidence was saved as well. The video camera that Sunako used to video in her search for clues/evidences was able to record the hostess confession of her plans. She also got to record the time when she called Sunako ugly. The boys weren’t a bit happy about this. Even Ranmaru defended Sunako.

No screencaps because I got too engrossed in watching to take them. XD
Episode 8
This episode is about Kyouhei’s want for Nabe and eating it while in a kotatsu. He’s becoming a bit of a brat. Wanting this and wanting that. Making Sunako as if their maid. Poor Sunako
The guys then suggested that if Kyouhei wants Nabe, he should accompany Sunako to the market. Things went great for them in the market. They got a lot of free or cheap food because they thought Sunako, the known creepy girl, finally got a boyfriend.
They celebrated and cheered for them. It went that way at first, but girls suddenly came and all their needed ingredients for Nabe was stepped on or gone. Sunako got mad and left with hardly any penny left. Things got better in the end though.
They got to eat nabe and they also got kotatsu which was handmade by Sunako.
Episode 9
Episode 9’s the first part of the murder mystery that happened in a hot spring resort where the gang was. Ranmaru was invited by the hostess there and was told to bring his friends along. That’s why they are there. The ping pong fight was funny. XD The starting background music reminded me of Prince of Tennis. And the moves… They named their moves! XDDD I didn’t think Sunako could be that good with ping-pong. Haha~ She could do anything just to get what she wants (they bet on a key to the safe where their travel expenses are kept). Something else happened between Sunako and Kyouhei, btw. They were charging into the ping-pong table and, since it was too fast that I didn’t get to see what happened to the net, they suddenly locked lips together! Haha~ XD Of course Sunako had another nosebleed and faint fit. Kyouhei then brought Sunako to her room. Ranmaru went with the hostess while the three (Noi was with them) went for karaoke. When Sunako suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, she finds Kyouhei in her room gazing out to the night sky. She stood beside him. A few minutes later, they saw Ranmaru running. Then a girl shrieks of their manager being dead. I guess Ranmaru and the hostess would become a suspect for this.

Pumpkin Scissors Ep. 10
December 29, 2006 @ 2:08 pm (0 Comments)
This episode is about how Pumpkin Scissors came to be. The longest members of the group are Captain and the one who takes care of Mercury. Oreld and then Machs joined. Then Alice came last among them until the corporal was recruited. Machs was different before he joined Section III (aka Pumpkin Scissors). He was removed from his section because he meddled with the plans of the Major which led him to realize that the major was corrupt. When Alice joined, Machs and Oreld barely listened to her orders, but everything changed when they were able to arrest the major from Mach’s previous section. Section III finally knew their identity. Alice gave their section a name as it is necessary to rally all of them together.
Alice old hairstyle is bad. Haha~ Pigtails?
I wouldn’t have expected her to come from a highly respected family and with a HOT fiance if I’d seen her first with that kind of hairstyle. Mach’s too is kinda old-skool.

Watched this movie with my brother since I got him to watch the tv series before.
Watching this series made me miss FMA. I watched this when I got all the subs and, I must say, it probably sucked watching this while it was still showing. Waiting for subs is sometimes an overkill.
Anyway, I’m impressed with the animation on this movie. It’s still the same as the tv series, but the characters are older. Winry’s pretty and she seemed to have followed well from her grandma’s job.
I wasn’t too happy with the ending. I am happy that he’s finally reconciled with his brother, but what’s with Edward’s attachment to the “normal” world & wanting to stay there? He could just stay where he came from and close the damn gate from that side.
Seeing everything that he had left and the world he chose… I would say he made a wrong decision. It’s like he hasn’t escaped from any battle even though he’s finally done with his attempt to see his brother again.
Saikano: Another Love Song
December 9, 2006 @ 11:39 pm (0 Comments)
I watched Saikano TV series thinking it was going to be some hardcore drama. But war stuff doesn’t get me sad or teary-eyed even a bit. The ending only had me a bit sad. I’m a sappy romantic. Haha~ The only thing that had me thinking was, “What happened to Shuji?” He was the only one left alive. o_o Even Chise who transformed into big fighting-plane like thing was only a spirit. (Correct me if I’m wrong.) I didn’t expect that it would be answered in this oav (well, it didn’t answer my question anyway), but it covers up some things about Chise’s becoming an ultimate-fighting weapon. She’s powerful yet she cannot control herself. Whatever that was planted in her seems to have a mind of its own that it attacks just about whoever attacks her… Even though she’s allies around her. -_- The first episode wasn’t that sad, but the second episode made me teary-eyed. She was afraid of what could happen to her. She didn’t want to fight anymore becuase she doesn’t have control of herself when she fights. She doesn’t want to kill more than she already has. And she just wanted to live normally with her boyfriend.
Pumpkin Scissors Ep. 3-9

*bah* It’s raining so hard tonight. Eclipse is just in good timing with their release of episode 9. XD I had a Pumpkin Scissors marathon before dinner. I thought more information about Orland would be disclosed when Machs researched about him. So far, we get to know that 901’s known as the Invisible 9. They were made to fight against tanks, as their name ATT implies, since tanks are the ultimate weapon in war. Machs found out about Orland’s weapon when they visited to Dr. Colt to research a tank they got from Wolkins (the guy who targets people using a tank). I thought the series would revolve around Orland, but I think not anymore. One is because of the tank in question. When they tried to get information about it, some people had it destroyed. Then when they went to a feudal lord who keeps stocks of the supplies he gets instead of giving it to the people, they got rifles with no name/serials. Also, there’s something weird about Alice’s fiance. Speaking of her fiance, man, HE’S HOT. XDDD

Episode 03
I didn’t realize I skipped this episode. No wonder I was still looking forward to that episode where Sunako turned into a graceful lady (temporarily) and there was supposed to be a party held by her Aunt.
They were all starting to worry about Sunako since they were left with only a few days before the supposed party. Things went hectic when Kyouhei was kidnapped by guys from a host club it seems.
Sunako and the gang dresses up, so they could easily get in the club and get Kyouhei back. Sunako was into this because he’s her prey. How else could she kill him if he’s gone, right? XD;
Episode 07
The head of National Boss Association from Kumagoroshi, Hanayashiki Hiromi, falls in love with Sunako. He wants a duel against Kyouhei, just so he could have her. Kyouhei was pretty much against it. He leaves him be. As usual, leaving him alone didn’t keep that huge Hanayashiki quiet. Hanayashiki becomes Sunako’s enemy when Hiroshi went missing and found it in their secret base/quarters/whatever you call it. ^^;; Hiroshi’s a fave of Sunako, isn’t it?
She went berserk when she found it missing. Good thing she found it before one of Hanayashiki’s guys burned it.

Pumpkin Scissors Ep. 1-2
November 27, 2006 @ 4:22 pm (0 Comments)
Started watching Pumpkin Scissors after Ultra Maniac. I’ve been watching too much comedy lately that I think it’s about time I watch something that isn’t. Pumkin Scissors is an army group that was formed as part of war relief efforts. After the emperor declared ceasefire after a very long time of war, many soldiers became rebels and peace isn’t completely restored yet. The first episode gives us a little view on Randel Orland — a 901-ATT soldier than everyone seems to be scared of. I only wonder why there are still a lot who doesn’t know him. Including Alice L. Mavin who is the lieutenant (is that right?) of Pumpkin Scissors. Heck, I don’t think anyone from their group is aware of the 901-ATT. Their first enemy in this episode is from 903-CTT. I think CTT means Chemical Tactics Troop. Correct me if I’m wrong.
In episode 2, they were assigned to a task of educating a noble. A viscount, I guess. I forgot.
I didn’t take notes on this episode.
Before they even got to the nobleman’s mansion, they already found out about the reason why they were called. Machs, Oreld, and Orland become the nobleman’s targets — it’s like a hunting game usually by those rich people, but he uses tanks as his weapon and people as his targets. The maids refuse to turn against him because they couldn’t point a gun to a noble. But Alice is actually a noble and they found out after she told them her background. They were pointing guns at her then. She made them realize that they can point a gun at a noble. Orland used his amazing fighting skills once more. He killed the person who assists the nobleman in his hunting. He almost killed the noble too, if Alice hadn’t stopped him.
I was a bit reluctant to watch this series because it seemed boring. I THOUGHT WRONG. Well, I think it’s still to early to say that. I hope it gets better and better.
In episode 2, they were assigned to a task of educating a noble. A viscount, I guess. I forgot.

Woo-hoo! Finished another series.
I feel like I haven’t watched a good number of anime this year compared to the previous years. Anyway, the ending to this show is okay. I didn’t expect that Maya’s love would be the prince himself.
I was thinking it would be an unintroduced character.
The prince is very much charming. Seeing him react weirdly when Nina turned him down is kind of OOC or, should I say, unexpected. I thought he would react in a dignified manner. While the girls were still collecting the holy stones, I pitied Maya. She was so desperate. All the time I thought it was for her dad to consider black magic. But it was because she was in love with the prince all her life. She was desperate enough just so she could marry the prince. Fortunately for her, Nina told the prince everything. They got together in the end.
It’s a bit sad to know that the gang was erased of Maya’s memories. It would have been good news for them. Though I couldn’t believe she went as far as doing something evil to get all the holy stones.
If you want something comedic and shoujo then this is the series. Watch it! XD Maya’s chameleon is so cute and Maya’s weird facial expressions are funny. Must see!
Animation: 4/5

Episode 15
Nina goes back to Magic Kingdom during her summer break, but she goes back again because her grandpa’s been nagging her too much. Maya returns too to look for the holy stone which she located near Tsujiai’s family’s beach house. She confesses to him, so she could easily go to his place. (She first thought it was in his house.)
Tsujiai invites Ayu, Nina, and Kaji to his family’s beach house. They played volleyball, swam, went sunbathing… Then Tsujiai sees Maya going to his place. They argued because Tsujiai realized she wasn’t serious about her confession. He told her that she probably doesn’t have anyone she actually likes. Then she got mad, said that she does, and storms off.
Oh, Nina and Maya finds the holy stone, but Maya was the one who was able to get it.

Episode 13
Another filler episode. Nina’s mom puts up a booth to sell some old stuff of theirs in the flea market. Nina, Ayu, Tsujiai, and Kaji help out.
There was a vest that the girls sold to their homeroom teacher. It was the vest of Nina’s dad… That he meant to throw away! It’s a magic vest that will make you say what’s on your mind and will tighten if you lie.
Episode 14
Luna pays a visit to Maya to help her find the holy stone. Luna isn’t really like Maya. She’s gloomy, lonely, depressed, etc.
She’s way pessimistic. While they were going around (no reason was told), they ran into the other 4 — Nina, Ayu, Tsujiai, and Kaji. Luna drops her bag to the ground by accident. Kaji picks this up and, whoa, Luna falls in love with him! Luna meant well though when she gives him various odd-looking gifts. Kaji thinks otherwise. Poor Luna… She got sort of dumped in the end. She walks away, depressed once more, and drops her bag again. Someone picks up the bag and hands it to her. ^_^; I’m sure you know what happened then.

It’s finally the start of summer break. Ayu’s sad because she won’t be seeing Kaji for a while. Fortunately, she and Nina get invited by Kaji and Tsujiai for the midsummer fireworks festival. The night before the festival, Ayu panics because she doesn’t have a decent yukata. Nina helps her by magically creating a kimono for her. Things were going smoothly til she had a problem with the yukata. To save Ayu from going naked, Nina makes something for Ayu. It’s not something you’d want to be seen in.

Maya’s butler, Sebastian, arrives. Not such a good butler though. He’s so into housekeeping and taking care of Maya, but he’s very annoying. I love his get-up though. XD I forgot why Maya did a potion. I’m pretty sure it’s for something against Nina. Sebastain stole the potion. He felt sad because Maya isn’t giving him much attention he wants or was really shaken by the fact Maya doesn’t like him. I forget. ^_^; Anyways, he escapes to the libary. The potion was spilled accidentally on picture books. The most spilled on picture was a buffalo. The other were disappearing because the potion didn’t spill too much on them. Ayu and Nina try to “control” the buffalo. Tsujiai was about to find out. Nina kept him from entering the library. I feel bad for Tsujiai, but seeing his face squeezed on the door was really, really, really, super hilarious. XDDD Check the screenshots!

Maya’s so pissed with Nina that she makes a cursed doll. Ayu’s the one who freaks out though since Nina found the doll really cute.
She planned on putting poison in the soup Nina’s mom making. Accidentally, she spills everything on it. Nina didn’t get poisoned though. She did.

Pine, Plum, and Bamboo visit their older cousin, Nina, to help her look for the holy stone. The little kids freak out Mikami, the girls’ homeroom teacher, as they enter the human world thru it. The little kids weren’t much of a help after they tried to make something to help look for the holy stone. They had this thunderballs and their potion spilled to a robot made of blocks. Maya was at the scene too because she got mad when her dearest Lulu got hit with a thunderball. Nina does some magic to stop the ruckus, but it seems the principal really fixed everything.
Just who is the principal? The only thing I’m sure of now is that he’s a magic user and probably came from Magic Kingdom. Maybe he’s got one or two of the holy stones?
Hataraki Man Ep. 1-3
November 19, 2006 @ 3:03 am (0 Comments)
Matsukata Hiroko is an editor in the weekly Jidai magazine. She’s referred to as “Hataraki Man,” being that she works extremely above the normal when she’s on work mode. She makes it sure that she writes a great article. She won’t stop until it satisfies her. The first episode is like an introduction about her character. She’s got a boyfriend although they barely see each other, it seems due to work. (No sex for 3 months already even.) She gets to write an article about a minister. She’s very much pissed off because they shortened her interview time. But the minister’s secretary calls her and gives all the information she knows about him. Not very good information though. She writes this article and publishes it. She started getting threatening calls. The minister then accuses his secretary of all the things said about him. So as not to disclose her source, she writes another article.
Episode 2 is about Stakeout Man — Sugawara Fumiya. He’s a photographer for gossip columns in the magazine. His job is to get racy photos of an Olympic athlete and her coach (who’s got an afro and a sideburn *lol*). His first stakeout attempt is a failure. In his second, Hiroko goes with him. Mostly because she wants to find out why Sugawara dislikes her a lot. Sugawara doesn’t seem very friendly around with the girls. He finds them, I think, annoying.
It’s probably because of the ladies he has dealt with in his work. Their stakeout wasn’t successful and Hiroko was still unclear of Sugawara’s attitude to her. Sugawara though was able to figure out why he dislikes Hiroko.
Ramen Man, episode 3 of Hataraki Man, is Kubo-chan. He helps Tanaka write an article about ramen which is supposedly for Hiroko to work on. She was so pissed that he had to continue to write about it. Hiroko dislikes him a lot for being so laid back and isn’t that much resourceful. For example, instead of looking for a ramen expert himself, he just asked Hiroko. In the end, Hiroko told him to talk to Kubo-chan. Kubo-chan’s work is more about food and erotica. I didn’t expect that Hiroko and him to be close. I mean, Kubo-chan looks like the type Hiroko would dislike.
They’re close since they got in weekly Jidai at the same time and there isn’t much to worry about him when it comes to work-related information.
I’ll definitely watch the rest of this series. XD Even moreso after hearing Sugawara and confirming that Kazuya Nakai (he also did Mugen’s of Samurai Champloo) who voiced him. Based on ANN, this series will only have 11 episodes. Anyway, I like how realistic the story is… All of us get tired of all those magical, fighting, etc. type of anime, right? Hataraki Man sort of reminds me of Genshiken. Please don’t ask me why.
Ahh, why are the good animes short?
Btw, I don’t think I’ll be able to post screencaps because I’m getting the HD version of this series from Arienai Fansubs.

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge Ep. 6
November 19, 2006 @ 12:39 am (0 Comments)
Sunako has been sick for a week already and the guys don’t know what to do. The house is a complete mess — they couldn’t get to eat decent food, their belongings are everywhere, molds have formed in their bathroom, and they couldn’t get a bath — well, that’s just a few of the problems they’re having. They tried to cheer Sunako who, after finding out it was already November, got depressed. They thought she missed a birthday or something… They didn’t know it was halloween that she missed. Noi found out when she visited their place. She tried to do her best to fix their mess. Sadly, she wasn’t of a big help for them. When Sunako gave her a pumpkin to cheer Noi up, that’s when she found out about the halloween thing. They set up a late and small halloween party for her. Sunako was so happy about it that she locked herself with a pumpkin, Hiroshi, and the rest of her displays.
This episode isn’t as funny as the previous ones. I’m starting to get tired of seeing Sunako in SD form and, what, it’s just episode 6?
When will her Aunt get back and hold a party? I wanna see Sunako all lady-like! *sniffles* There’s a part of that in the manga, right? I don’t want to see anymore filler episodes please. The guys should start working their butt offs in making Sunako all girly and pretty. XD

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge Ep. 5
November 10, 2006 @ 10:13 am (0 Comments)
Sunako was fooled to go to a photo shoot. It was easy because the setup was a haunted house. She was so excited and eager. They got her in easily, but they had a hard time getting her to wear a dress and putting make-up on. Sunako was discovered when the photographer saw her picture in a magazine. After they had her changed, the photographer got furious because she was no where near beautiful than he had expected. She suddenly did a chant or prayer to the ghosts and vampires.
They freaked out. XD Even so, they continued to take pictures of her. Sunako got scared and ran away. They had to chase her. That’s when they discovered the boys. The first one they got to model was Yuki. I really lol-ed when the photographer shouted “きれい!” while watching him. XDDD He cried because he was forced to wear a dress again.
Things didn’t go well for them again especially when Yuki got mad at the photographer. The photographer called Sunako ugly and Yuki an asexual.
They escaped with no worries, but the photographer was able to take a good picture of the gang. They got paid for it, but the money went to Sunako’s aunt as payment for the rent they still owe.
I’m really getting used to the poor animation.
The story is somehow still sticking to the manga as far as I recall. Sunako’s frequently in her SD form in this episode. It kinda sucks.
But she was so cute when she was talking to the spider and the rat.

Episode 4
This episode is about how Nina and Ayu met. Ayu was really freaked out at first and thought she was only dreaming.
But after having witnessed green rock-like stuff bouncing around and Nina floating on a scooter, she had no other choice but to believe that Nina is from Magic Kingdom. Having a place simply named like that is actually unbelievable. One odd thing in this episode is when the class rep saw Nina performing a magic. I thought she was hiding behind a wall; somewhere out of view from the store.
Anyways, having seen that, it seems this was also when and where it all started for the class rep to stalk Nina.

From the all the episodes I’ve seen, this is the funniest. Really. The annoying, low-budget animation didn’t even bother me a bit. XD I thought this was already the episode where Sunako’s Aunt comes home to see if Sunako’s really turned to a lady. Well, that’s what I recall.
Kyouhei was almost lucky because the guys didn’t want a share in the money. Sunako didn’t want it either. But he lost everything due to the gas explosion that happened in the takoyaki ruckus he and those ugly guys created. Didn’t Kyouhei’s hair look longer than the first episode?
Yukinojo looked like Gash when he was crying and complaining why he’s the only one dressed as a girl.
I really laughed out loud and it was about 4AM when I watched this episode. XDDD

In episode 3, the students compete over how many tennis courts the girls or boys teams can use. The boys team is led by Tsujiai and the girls team by Ayu. Nina decides to help Ayu with her nervousness with competing against Tsujiai because she knows he’s really good at tennis. So, Nina does another magic thing and turns Ayu into a guy! The girls lose, of course, because Ayu isn’t used with a male’s body. Everything turned out well though because Tsujiai suggested that there should still be equal usage of the courts during practice. Before the day ended, Ayu was invited by Tetsushi and Tsujiai to a karaoke. On the day of the karaoke, Nina turns herself to a boy too while she hasn’t found a dispel for the magic Nina cast on Ayu. Things went a bit smoothly as she tried to keep girl from Tetsushi.
That girl thought Ayu’s interested in her. After the karaoke and everyone was about to leave, the girl gives Ayu a kiss ON THE LIPS. XD There goes her first kiss.
This episode’s really cute and funny.
I can’t find the right words to describe this episode. Heck, it’s hard to give a really detailed, enlightening, etc. comment about shoujo anime.
Poor Ayu, she gave her first kiss to a girl. She should tell herself that the kiss isn’t counted.
It was to a girl anyways.

I decided I’d watch some semi-old anime as I wait for the rest of the newest series to get subbed.
Ultra Maniac is about a girl, whose name’s Nina, who came from the magic kingdom. She’s not that good of a mage and she still relies on her mini computer. Her close friend’s Ayu… There aren’t much going yet with the two episodes, so I can’t say much. Oh, before Nina could perform magic, she has to transform into her “magic kingdom clothes.” >_> I wonder why she has to go through that. Anyways, Ayu likes a schoolmate of hers. His name’s Kaji. Nina tried to get them together, but her magic sucks. (Rather cliche, don’t you think?) Then a childhood friend of Nina comes by for a visit. His name’s Yuta. The first he saw Ayu, he suddenly showed interest and asked her out. Ayu didn’t want to, but with the bouquet of roses raining on her, she she just agreed. It’s not like she wanted the roses. She just wanted him to stop. The date went good and, in the end, Ayu found out that Nina’s really the girl Yuta likes.

This one’s hella funnier than the previous episode. I don’t recall the events happening in the manga, so I guess that was the reason I found this episode highly amusing.
I watched it with my brother too. There are more nosebleedings in this episode. Sunako could have actually died from losing too much blood. XD Sunako sees Kyouhei taking a bath. Lucky her. XD Also, it’s her first day at school and she has already taken too much attention with her weird looks. She’s made enemies without her knowledge with the Ganguro girls and Goth-Loli group.
Both are actually weirder than her.

So I started watching this last night. I got episode 2, but will watch it after I post this.
It’s not as funny as I thought it would be and maybe because I already read the manga. I haven’t followed the manga though for a long time. Shall do it soon. Anyways, the art is better than the manga. The manga art looks like sketches — like their hair looking more like just strands.
The SDs are cute and funny, the boys are bishies as ever, and… Sunako’s Sunako.
She’s got nice guy friends… Those types you’d keep in a biology lab. XD Hopefully the show gets better. Watching another comedy anime makes me miss Ouran High School Host Club.
