Bokura ga Ita

WTF. Bokura ga Ita just KILLED ME with the extreme drama. I find the series damn good. So good that I want more. I’m not satisfied with the open ending. They could have just included the last part of the 8th volume of the manga. The ending with Takahashi chasing the train then watching it leave on a cold, snowy winter day just made the anime more sad than it already was. It wasn’t even heart-warming, darnit. I wouldn’t mind the drama, but at least a semi-satisfying ending would it alright. *sighs*

Before I give my input on the characters and the story, I’d like to make a few comments with the animation. So far, the simplicity of the anime is a major point. I like it. It kind of gives this Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyo feeling to it. There are times though that the main characters would look sad. The part when Takahashi was waiting for Yano in front of the station. Takeuchi and Yano, at the same time, headed there… I thought it was Yano who got there first, but Takeuchi beat him to it. I was also confused by the voice because he sounded like Yano. I didn’t notice that the music at the near-end of the episodes changes. *lol* Some episodes weren’t that dramatic, but whenever those music would play, it really gives off this melancholic feeling.

Others weren’t happy with this series. But I think it’s a good series. It’s already in my favorites, btw. *lol* Yano isn’t the perfect guy than what he seemed to be in the first episode. He may be cold or rash with Nanami, but his choice of words when he’s being honest with his love for Nanami can make you melt. Takeuchi may be a good guy and he’s right about Yano being almost impossible to understand… But I still root for Yano and Nanami. He’s Nanami’s first boyfriend, so I could forgive her if she gets indecisive or get easily hurt/mad when she could easily talk it with Yano instead of just ignoring him. I saw how she matured through their high school years. I was surprised when told Takeuchi to stop being nice to her when she’s weak. That he was being unfair. He somewhat takes advantage of the situation when she and Yano fights. We know all he wants is to protect her, but he also knows his limit. He can’t force Nanami to like him when all she sees is Yano. I pity Nanami because she’s trying hard and Yano isn’t completely open with her. I know he’s right when he said that Nanami’s mentioning pointless things. I believe he would have eventually moved on and made Nana become a memory (even though he doesn’t believe in memories), if he and Nanami had led a normal, happy couple life. I guess Nanami just wants Yano to move on by facing the problem instead of trying to forget it. She’s afraid that Yano isn’t completely in love with her. Like Yano’s feelings still linger for Nana. Well, we did witness that in the anime. It couldn’t be helped anyways. Nana’s dead. He loved her. As much as he wanted to hate her, he couldn’t. She was his first love. *lol* I contradicted myself, didn’t I?

I’ve read some summaries of what’s going on in the manga. Yamamoto Yuri’s still in the scene. I hate her for being like that because she isn’t helping with Yano’s life. I saw someone stating that Yamamoto is better than Nanami because she was able to help Yano when Nanami didn’t do anything, but wait for him. That is a bit true. Although they made a promise and it isn’t only Nanami that is supposed to be done by her. The promise should be kept and done by both of them. Nanami wants to see him, but what if she thinks that Yano doesn’t want to see her anymore? If he barely made contact, what assurance does Nanami have that Yano still wants to see her? I wish they would just get back. Yano couldn’t possibly face the problems on his own. I’m sure Nanami would be able to support him. The feeling is different when you feel loved, you know. I don’t want to be loved by somebody who’s like a stalker. Ack, Yamamoto’s so like that. Even in high school, couldn’t she just leave the two alone? *sighs* She’s sometimes there to ruin things for them. *shakes head*
Maybe when I get the chance, I’ll follow the manga (make a fansite even! Haha~)… Only for now, I need to watch Gintama to keep my mind off this series. ^^;

My favorite character was actually Takeuchi. <3 I honestly felt for him, always having the girls he falls for taken by Yano.

Yamamoto needs to get a grip, there are other fish in the sea. She needs to realise that just because you slept together once doesn’t mean you eternally belong together.

The best thing about this series was the amount you can learn from Nanami and Yano’s relationship. It almost makes you want to understand your partner more (if you have one).
