Winter 2012 anime watch list
February 27, 2012 @ 1:46 am (2 Comments)
Thanks to Metanorn’s winter 2012 anime catalogue, I was able to figure out what to watch — Both to review and not.
The following are the series I shall review:
Ai no Kusabi
How many years has it been since the OVA? I can’t believe they’re coming out with a new one.
K-On! Movie
The K-On! movie is about the four member’s post-graduation trip to London. That makes me realize how unambitious we were in high school when I started a band. After graduation, we had practices and local gig then was drama, we broke up, and got new members. I wish we traveled too. XD; Not much really went on with the series, but it’s a relaxing and fun watch. I actually want more of K-On! for that matter that’s why I will watch the movie. Well, not as much as I want more Working’!!.
Kill Me Baby
Kill Me Baby is about an assassin girl who tries to live normally and fit in a school. I think there’s always a 4koma-based series in my watch list and this is another one of those.
The Prince of Tennis II
In this new Prince of Tennis, the kids are still in middle school and they will have to compete with high school students. When will they graduate middle school?
Will this be another long series? I think and _partly_ hope so because I like development that is not rushed in a sports-themed series. I already have the first few episodes of this and I’m tempted to start on it, but I wonder if I should see Zenkoku Taikai Hen first.
Toradora Special
I enjoyed the Toradora series even though the animation started to look weird near the ending. Yeah, I was kind of bothered by that.
Then these I’ll just pick up (and probably review some once completed):
Another
I don’t think I have seen many horror anime series nor movies. So, adding this in my watch list.
Daily Lives of High School Boys
Daily Lives of High School Boys is a modern Gintama in a school setting. I just saw episode 7. I want more. Now!
High School DxD
I have no expectations about the story especially when the series seems to scream fanservice. I’ll pick this up because I’ve seen this on several anime blogs and they all seem to follow the series.
Mouretsu Pirates
I’m already on episode 3 which I thought was boring. Some may find this entertaining, but it hasn’t reached that point for me.
Berserk Movie
The last time I read Berserk was back in college. I want to get back on track with the story. Since there’s so much going on in it, I may have to re-read from the beginning.
Aside from the amazing storyline Berserk has, its art has gotten a lot better through the volumes which is the primary reason why I want to watch the movie. I dislike that it will be in three parts. I’m going to be left hanging just like with Mardock Scramble.
Gyo OVA
Horror about fishes with legs. Hmmm…
Inu x Boku SS
At first, I thought this was a shoujo series. LOL It’s the art and it’s what got me curious into picking up the series.
Holy Knight OVA
Holy Knight is about a vampire hunter who goes to a missionary school and a half-Romanian girl transfer student. There are only two episodes which will start airing next month.
Manyuu Hiken-chou
Don’t we all want just some fanservice? I read there’s lots of oppai here. :3

Daily Lives of High School Boys not on GetGlue
February 5, 2012 @ 10:17 pm (0 Comments)
I’m watching Daily Lives of High School Boys now and I hate it’s not on GetGlue. #firstworldproblems
Anyway, watching this reminds me of Gintama. All the more with Sugita Tomokazu (Gintoki’s VA) voicing one of the boys.
But its humor is not yet at par with Gintama or from what I’ve seen so far. I’m already on episode 3.

Working’!!
January 21, 2012 @ 5:31 am (1 Comment)
This season has been done for a while already. I tried to wait for my subber of choice to finish the last few episodes, but they haven’t released them as of writing. I got impatient and acquired from another group. So here’s my (very random) thoughts on the series.
Working’!! is the second season anime of the 4koma Working!!. No definite plot, this comedy slice of life series shows the usual days of the staff of a family restaurant Wagnaria. The second season focuses more on the rest of the cast other than Inami. Takanashi’s sisters Izumi and Kozue get some long scenes. All his sisters, except the youngest who seem the most normal among them, are such a fun. That usually non-speaking waitress Maya finally gets a speaking part. She’s pretty! I wish it wasn’t only in the last episode she gets to talk.
What I dislike about this series is Yamada. There’s too much of her in this season. She’s the only character I dislike because I don’t find her third-person talk cute at all. Everyone else is likeable. I have a few faves with Souma topping them all. I find his reaction cute whenever Souma teases him about Yachiyo. Then he reminds me of Sanji (One Piece) from his hair to the smoking to his being a chef. (With this series over and I have caught up with the One Piece anime, I have a bit of One Piece withdrawal. ^^;;;) My second fave is Takanashi. I can relate to his liking of cute things.
The last in my faves is Inami just because she can punch hard almost effortlessly.
Need I say I recommend this? Oh, I just did.
Minus the music (because it’s not something I’ll add in my playlist) and Yamada, I give this series a

.That Ranma 1/2 Live Action Special
January 15, 2012 @ 1:27 pm (0 Comments)
I heard of several anime and/or manga titles getting a live action version and Ranma 1/2 is one of them. I’m glad to have found out subs are already available for this. Unfortunately, they’re not that great. I want to edit it if I can.
The Ranma 1/2 Live Action is a two-part special about Saotome Ranma’s search for the hot spring in Tendou Akane’s school that can cure him of his curse. It’s not easy as it seems as he has to deal with tomboyish Akane and the okama that keeps him from finding the hot spring. Then it turns out that Akane holds the key to it. The live action stars Aragaki Yui as Tendou Akane, Kaku Kento as male Saotome Ranma, and Natsuna as the female Ranma.
I’m not sure if this is originally part of the Ranma 1/2 storyline. In the first season, I guess?
Watching the live version makes me want to watch the anime again. I missed some episodes then I didn’t get to follow the series anymore. I have no idea how it really ends.
The actor for Ranma could have been better. He doesn’t seem fit for the role unlike Natsuna who did a nice job being the female version. Almost close to the character. Plus, her fighting doesn’t seem too fakorz. :P For the fun factor, action effects, and the pretty Tendou sisters, I give this live action a

.I found the Futari Ecchi live movie!
January 15, 2012 @ 3:50 am (1 Comment)
But there are no English subs yet.
The movie stars Riki Miura and Yuuri Morishita.
Futari Ecchi (also called Manga Sutra, Step up – Love Story, or Love Diary) is a story about a married couple, both 25 years old, but are still virgins. As both virgins, they both learn with this relationship and marriage life including how to have s3x. Thus why it’s called Manga Sutra.
Back in college, I started to read the manga. I didn’t think it would still be ongoing and already at its 52nd volume. o_o I hope to be able to get back to reading manga in spite of adult ‘duties.’ >_> Anyway, I want to watch the live movie just to see how they do the s3x scenes. I might pick up a lesson or two. WAHAHAHA~ There must be English subs soon (and good translations at that). Screenshots of the movie are available here.
